Teri Jackson, R.N. Is the Jackson Clinic manager. Her interest in medicine began well before acquiring her present position. A born and bread Mississippi girl, she developed her curiosity about the medical field even during her formidable years when she also excelled in several other extracurricular activities. She followed her heart and was accepted to the prestigious training program at Baptist School of Nursing in Memphis Tennessee. After graduation she pursued her ambitions and talent in critical care nursing. After meeting Dr. Jackson they both realized that their ambitions and views in regards to medical care and philosophy were similar. From this they not only have formed a beautiful marriage in life, but also one in business and medicine.

With the inception and growth of the Jackson Clinic, Teri soon realized her talents in management thereby progressing in her multifaceted talents to pursuing her certification in medical management and administration. "My job is an enviable one having the luxury to work with such a talented and dedicated staff." Teri spends a great deal of her time in management but admits, ".....the contact I have with our patients is priceless."

Mrs. Jackson invites you to visit our clinic and encourages inquiries regarding any aspect of our clinic be brought to her and her staff.

Teri Jackson "Cirriculum Vitae"

Dr. Ed Schaeffer Delivered at home in January 1944. Of note, birth weitht was estimated at 13 1/2 pounds. Graduated from Pine Grove HS (PA) 1961 and earned a BS degree from Millersville State U in beautiful Lancaster County, PA in 1966. Although I worked part time at schook, I still had to take 9 months off from school to work to earn enough money to finish my sophomore year of college. I then taught HS chemistry and biology for 3 years while I worked on my Master's degree (I never did finish my Master's thesis there.)

I made several moves from Pine Grove, PA. First to Idaho, then Madison, WI, then back to Idaho and finally to Paris, TX, in 1979 and there worked at McCuistion Hospital until 2001. I finished my Master's degree at ETSU, Commerce, TX in 1981 and received my Doctorate from Columbia Pacific University, Mill Valley, CA in 1982. Then I met my lovely wife Joyce in 1985 and was married in 1988 and have lived happily ever after.

Joyce and I enjoy running together and weight lifting (I enjoy the weight lifting more than she does). Our greatest physical activity joy is backpacking and we hope to take five months to hike the Appalachian trail from Georgia to Maine in 2010. We are both members of First Baptist Church, Paris, TX and are both active members of the Sanctuary Sunday School class there.

I very much enjoy working with Dr. Jackson, whether it's doing a stress echo to check out the heart or a venous doppler to rule-out a thrombus. I have worked with Dr. Jackson since 1997 and he has ever been encouraging me to learn new test modalities that can be put to use at the Jackson Clinic (Dr. Jackson and I have partnered together at several conferences). I do believe it's his goal to provide as many procedures as possible to his patients, so that patient travel elsewhere is kept to a minimum.

The important thing to remember is that these disorders are very treatable. There are several treatment options depending on the disease at hand. Obstructive sleep apnea is probably the sine qua non sleep disorder that is most advertised and that all of you probably have heard most about. There is a gold standard therapeutic approach which of course is CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), which opens the upper airways and allows normal, rhythmic breathing without oxygen desaturations that are the consequence of OSA. There are also devices that help with certain anatomical structural deformities of the jaw and throat though none have been shown to correct OSA as CPAP clearly does.
